Fitting tribute to a guitar legend--this Tele/Strat hybrid is a trip!

Description
This is a Fender Jerry Donahue Telecaster made in Japan at the Fujigen factory with an A+6-digit serial number (stamped in the bridge) that tells you very little. These guitars were made from 1993 to 1999. These are EXTREMELY different birds and unlike any other Tele you'll find. First off it's basically a '52 V-shaped Tele neck (made to Jerry's specs) mated with a '62 Tele fully bound body. It sports a vintage '52 bridge and Alnico Tele pickup and Alnico Stratocaster pickup in the neck position and a 5-way switch with custom wiring. The "V" on this neck is pronounced and feels nice and chunky. As for the pickup switching, here is what I've found on the Internet, but please do your own research:

Position 1) Bridge PU alone for Jerry's favorite 1952 vintage sound. Position 2) The Bridge PU and the Neck PU out-of-phase for that unique Strat sound, as it puts a Tele PU and the Vintage Strat PU out-of-phase. Really cool JD trick. Position 3) The Bridge PU and the Neck PU in parallel, like a stock Tele in the middle switch position, creating a sweet full rhythm sound. Position 4) The Neck pickup going through the tone control. Position 5) The Neck PU by-passing the tone control.

This is a player's guitar with lots of little marks, but nothing large. Looks like a nice light relic guitar. The frets are a thin type and are still in good shape (if you're a "fret freak" please contact with questions). This comes with the vintage Tele ashtray cover. No case. It plays really great. One of a kind guitar. It appears to be all stock, except for the "Electosocket" jack. I've taken some close up pics of marks but I can't capture them all. Weight is 7 pounds, 1 ounce. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars. (Details on my setups and packing at bottom of listing.) Thanks for looking.

What You Get

-- FREE USA shipping.
-- 30-day return policy.
-- Ship within 1 business day--pro packing.

Guitar Setup
My setup on guitars includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. I spray out any pots that are noisy. I turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. I don't claim to be a trained luthier, but I'm able to set guitars/basses for a reasonable out-of-box experience and have had very few complaints. If you're looking for the perfect setup on a used guitar, please expect to take it to a trained luthier who is familiar with your individual playing style and preferences. ps: basses get the same setup minus the new strings. Thanks!

Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google "THERE IN ONE PIECE...How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.
