GIBSON SG SPECIAL 70s TRIBUTE T SATIN Ebony Dirty Fingers PU Killer! 30316
This is a 2013 Gibson SG 70s Tribute in Vintage Ebony satin nitro finish. The dual Dirty Fingers humbuckers are the star of the show here with huge, hot vintage tone. Some of the hottest pickups Gibson ever produced. Mahogany body and baked maple fretboard with trapezoid inlays, plus locking Grover "Kidney" button tuners. These have a thin satin nitro finish to let the tone come through. Great looking and playing guitar. Very light and feels good in the hands. Cosmetics include some small playing marks (see pics). All electronics, neck, frets, in good condition. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars. (Details on my setups and packing at bottom of listing.) Weight is 6 pounds, 8 ounces. No case. I may end auction early if it sells elsewhere. Thanks.
What You Get
-- Full setup, cleaning, and new strings.
-- FREE USA shipping.
-- 30-day return policy.
-- Ship within 1 business day--pro packing.
My setup on guitars includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. I spray out any pots that are noisy. I turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. I don't claim to be a trained luthier, but I'm able to set guitars/basses for a reasonable out-of-box experience and have had very few complaints. If you're looking for the perfect setup on a used guitar, please expect to take it to a trained luthier who is familiar with your individual playing style and preferences. ps: basses get the same setup minus the new strings. Thanks!
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google "THERE IN ONE PIECE...How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.
Like many SGs of the era of heavy rock, the SG ’70s Tribute carries a pair of high-output humbucking pickups for unparalleled overdrive tones along with the characteristic ’70s neck profile with volute. Gibson’s most acclaimed hardware set ensures smooth playability and offers precise tuning and intonation. The SG ’70s Tribute looks great in your choice of Heritage Cherry, Vintage Sunburst, or Ebony Black finish, all in Vintage Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.
Built in the image of the world-beating SG Standards of the 1970s, the SG ’70s Tribute starts with a foundation of solid mahogany, a tonewood with a long tradition at Gibson. A solid mahogany body is crafted in the distinctive, thin asymmetrical dual-cutaway style, with iconic pointed “horns” and beveled edges to enhance playing comfort. A solid mahogany neck is glued into the body in Gibson’s time-tested tradition, and carved to a characteristic medium ’70s profile that measures .810” at the 1st fret and .930” at the 12th, with period-correct volute to strengthen the back-angled headstock. It is topped with a genuine rosewood fingerboard that carries 24 medium-jumbo frets to maximize the upper afforded by the SG’s body style, and traditional trapezoid inlays. In keeping with the stripped-down ethos of this powerful performer, both body and ’board remain unbound, and there’s no pickguard to obscure the finish. A PLEK-cut nut made from black Corian™ subtly complements the black witch-hat knobs with silver inserts and black pickup rings. The headstock is silkscreened with gold Gibson and holly logos.
The SG ’70s Tribute takes its firepower from a pair of Gibson’s mighty Dirty Fingers™ humbucking pickups, a legendary component of ’70s rock and among the two hottest pickups that Gibson has ever designed. These scorching humbuckers include powerful ceramic magnets and over-wound coils for a sizzling, sustainful sound that nevertheless remains clear and articulate. The traditional wiring complement of an independent volume and tone control per pickup plus a three-way toggle selector switch allows a broad range of sonic variations. To anchor it all down, Gibson USA loads in a Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece with a set of genuine Grover™ kidney button tuners, a hardware set that partners up for solid sustain and precision tuning. Put it all together, and the SG ’70s Tribute presents the perfect celebration of the SG’s evolution into the age of heavy rock, wrapping it all into a great guitar that brings the look, feel, and sound of a high-output humbucker-loaded SG to the hands of players of today.
