Description
This is a 1998 Gibson BluesHawk in black finish in player condition and comes with an aftermarket hard case. These are like no other Gibson you will find. Two p90 pickups on a light semi-hollow body provide some amazing tone, and the six-position "Varitone" switch gives a plethora of sounds. From the ground up these are not your normal Gibbie. Forget 10 pound Pauls--this one weighs 6 pounds, 7 ounces!

Scale length is a very unusual 25.5", resembling Fenders. Through body stringing more like a Tele or Strat. Thin body is poplar with maple cap and two F-holes. Partially bound body with body contour on back. This is a player's guitar with lots of minor marks, as well as really cool looking paint checking on the front. Frets are in great condition. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars. Rare chance to get this vintage guitar at a good price. (Details on my setups and packing at bottom of listing.) Thanks for looking!

What You Get
-- Full setup, cleaning, and new strings.
-- FREE USA shipping.
-- 30-day return policy.
-- Ship within 1 business day--pro packing.

Guitar Setup
All setups are done by our in-house luthier. Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Basses get the same treatment minus the string change. Thanks!

Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google "THERE IN ONE PIECE...How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.

Wiki Info

The Gibson Blueshawk is a relatively recently designed (1996–2006) Gibson model designed mainly for blues players (hence the name). It superficially resembles the Les Paul in that the body outline is similar. The Blueshawk was discontinued by Gibson in Spring 2006, and returned in 2015 under the Epiphone brand.

A variant on the Blueshawk is named Gibson Little Lucille and features a stop tailpiece and tune-o-matic bridge.

The Blueshawk has a number of distinctive features that distinguish it from virtually all other Gibsons. The Blueshawk's body outline is the same as a slightly earlier range of guitars - the Nighthawks (1993-1999) - but unlike the Nighthawks, the Blueshawk is a semi-hollow bodied guitar with twin f-holes.

Other distinctive / innovative features include:

25.5 inch scale length (the same as many Fenders, Gibsons more typically have a 24.75 inch scale length).
Through-body stringing and bridge construction - similar to the Fender Telecaster
Blues 90 pickups (superficially resembling a P-90 pickup)
Noise reduction circuitry which employs a dummy coil
A Varitone circuit (similar to that used on the Gibson ES345) - the Varitone circuit is a mid-cut/band-stop filter with a choice of five center frequencies
The Blueshawk is a light guitar (less than 7lbs) - the body is made from poplar, capped with maple - the body is small and relatively thin and has two cavities - the hardware is minimal.
The Blueshawk has a contour carved into the back - similar to the Fender Stratocaster.
Simple control set - master volume, master tone, 3-way pickup selector, 6 way rotary Varitone control switch.
Just above the fingerboard and parallel to it, between the front (neck) pickup and the front strap pin, there is a cursive-writing emblem using paint, saying “Blues Hawk.”
