Description
This is a 2012 Gibson 70s Firebird Studio Reverse Tribute guitar in cherry finish. The guitar is in excellent playing and cosmetic condition. It's also very lightweight at 7 pounds, 6 ounces. These have a unique 70s neck profile that starts out like a 60s SlimTaper near the nut and becomes more chunky as you move up the neck.

This Firebird has a pair of dual blade Alnico mini-humbucers, and its thin satin nitro finish on the mahogany body won't impede your tone. Features include Tune-o-Matic bridge and Grover tuners. Cosmetically it's very clean with only some minor marks on the back that I tried to show in pics below, but are hard to see. Frets are in good condition. No case. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars. (Details on my setups and packing at bottom of listing.) Thanks for looking!

What You Get
-- Full setup, cleaning, and new strings.
-- FREE USA shipping.
-- 30-day return policy.
-- Ship within 1 business day--pro packing.

Guitar Setup

My setup on guitars includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. I spray out any pots that are noisy. I turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. I don't claim to be a trained luthier, but I'm able to set guitars/basses for a reasonable out-of-box experience and have had very few complaints. If you're looking for the perfect setup on a used guitar, please expect to take it to a trained luthier who is familiar with your individual playing style and preferences. ps: basses get the same setup minus the new strings. Thanks!

Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google "THERE IN ONE PIECE...How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.

The Firebird legacy
Gibson's redesigned Mini Humbuckers deliver broad and balanced tone
SlimTaper neck feels great and provides exceptional playability

The Firebird legacy
Created by legendary automotive designer (and visionary) Ray Dietrich, the original 1963 Gibson Firebird literally reversed conventional concepts for guitar bodies and headstocks. You can bet heads turned when any guitar player took to the stage with one of these unusual instruments strapped on. Players like Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, and Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music) found their combination of looks and sound to be perfect for their needs.

Gibson's redesigned Mini Humbuckers deliver broad and balanced tone
When Gibson reinvented their Mini Humbuckers, they gave guitars such as the Gibson Firebird Studio Reverse '70s Tribute a wider and more expressive range of tone. Dual steel blades and single Alnico V magnets provide you with more output then Gibson's previous Mini Humbucker design, and yet they still give the Firebird Studio the vintage chime and open sound you want. And thanks to their calibrated windings, you'll be blown away by how well the Mini Humbucker bridge and neck pickups complement one another. You'll get both excellent rhythm and lead tones from your Gibson Firebird Studio Reverse '70s Tribute!

SlimTaper neck feels great and provides exceptional playability
The Gibson Firebird Studio Reverse '70s Tribute sports a comfortable, fast-action neck with a '60s SlimTaper profile. Early Gibson guitars had huge, bulky necks. By 1960, Gibson had gradually carved down this profile into what became their SlimTaper neck. As your fingers moved down this neck, the precisely controlled width-to-thickness ratio of the Firebird Studio's SlimTaper neck provides you with a consistent, fast, and comfortable feel. It's no wonder many life-long guitar players consider the SlimTaper Gibson's finest neck.

Gibson Firebird Studio Reverse '70s Tribute Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
Classic Firebird design with updated Mini Humbucker pickups
Mahogany body and maple neck from detailed tone and long sustain
Comfortable SlimTaper neck shape for hours of comfortable playing
Gibson quality build and design

----------------------------------------------

Like the most revered vintage Firebirds, the Firebird Studio ’70s Tribute starts with a solid mahogany body. This classic tonewood offers superb depth and balance, and is extremely light for optimum playing comfort. This set-neck Firebird is crafted to the original slim-bodied lines of the radical “Reverse-Bodied” Firebirds of the early-to-mid-’60s, so the Firebird Studio ’70s Tribute also captures the visual style of one of the most revolutionary guitar designs ever to hit the scene. Like many great Gibsons of the ’70s, the neck is made from maple and carved to a profile unique to the era, which measures .800” deep at the 1st fret and increases to .963” at the 12th, with a volute behind the nut to both strengthen the headstock joint and enhance neck resonance. A chocolate-brown baked maple fingerboard carries modest pearloid dot inlays, and terminates in a PLEK-cut Corian™ nut with a width of 1-11/16”. As with many Studio models, the Firebird Studio ’70s Tribute keeps it all down to basics—and saves you money—by omitting fingerboard binding. Its look is complemented by a cream pickguard (with Firebird graphic) and pickup rings and gold knobs (Vintage Sunburst and Ebony Black) or black guard, rings, and knobs (Silver Burst and Cherry), and traditional gold Gibson and Les Paul Model silkscreens on all but the Silver Burst, which has silver silkscreens.

To help the Firebird Studio ’70s Tribute rock with unparalleled character and articulation, Gibson USA loads it with a pair of Dual Blade Alnico Mini Humbuckers. Entirely new pickups from Gibson USA, these units improve upon the best attributes of the former Mini Humbuckers seen in the Les Paul Deluxe in the ’70s, and the different Firebird Mini Humbuckers of the early ’60s, in an efficient design that uses dual steel blades and an Alnico magnet for a vintage voice that still retains plenty of chime. These pickups are calibrated for balanced output between the neck and bridge positions, yielding everything from singing bluesy neck tones to crunchy and wailing leads, and are dressed in solid chrome covers. They are routed through the traditional four-knob and three-way switch wiring set up, and partnered with a Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece for optimum sustain and precise intonation. A set of vintage-style TonePros™ tuners with chrome keys graces the reversed six-in-line headstock.
