Fender 2004 USA Deluxe Stratocaster SCN Noiseless PUs American Strat +OHSC 21428
Description (see more pics below)
This is a 2004 50th Anniversary Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster in Chrome Silver finish. These came with SCN (Samarium Cobalt Noiseless) pickups, which were designed by Bill Lawrence to be quieter and have more beef than standard Strat pickups. They are marked "SCN" on the pickups, though it's hard to see. Comes with factory locking tuners, 2-point tremolo, and S-1 switch. Features:
— Alder body, maple neck, abalone dots
— C-profile, 9.5 radius neck w/ med-jumbo frets
— No-load tone control (Google it), bone nut
Cosmetically has some marks, shown in pics, but still looks great. Frets are in very good condition. Has a contoured neck heel and 50th Anniversary neck plate. Plays and sounds amazing. Comes with a fitted Fender hard case, some paperwork and locking tuners. These have a push-in tremolo bar that can be hard to remove once in, but it does work fine. Weight is 7 pounds, 15 ounces. I do a full setup and expert packing: details below. Thanks for looking.
My store is a one-person small business that has been selling used guitars and basses for 15 years now. I take pride in doing a detailed cleaning and setup on every instrument I sell, so depending on my workload it may be 1-2 business days before your guitar ships. When it arrives you can depend on it being, clean, set up, and securely packed. Check my feedback for confirmation. Thanks!
Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Thanks!
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 15 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google "Still Kickin - How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.
The Samarium Cobalt Noiseless (SCN) series was a line of stacked electric guitar and bass pickups; these were designed by Bill Lawrence with the goal of further reducing noise while improving the "single-coil" tone of the pickup and were fine tuned by Fender. Introduced in 2004, they were similar to the Vintage Noiseless pickups, but Lawrence's research into controlling magnetic eddy currents led him to employ miniaturized samarium cobalt alloy magnets instead of Alnico 5. Samarium cobalt is a rare earth magnet that is more powerful than the Alnico 5 magnets traditionally used in pickup design. The SCN pickups were a standard equipment feature on the American Deluxe series Stratocaster from 2004 to 2010, and were available for the Telecaster and Jazz Bass, but are no longer manufactured by Fender. The Stratocaster SCN pickups have the SCN logo etched on the pickup covers, but the letters are not colored, making them hard to discern. The covers were available in white, black, aged white and parchment, but the Tele sets were offered in black and chrome only.
